The extra mile and a bit was me dying followed by a slow jog home!

Ended up doing 8 miles at faster than race pace! I wanted to see whether I could manage race pace over the 8 miles as I was starting to get worried about Sunday. This shows that I can. I’m hoping that this wasn’t foolish considering the race. That’s what journals are for…

If I only concentrated on my breathing then I was able to relax myself down, which in turn kept me going at a reasonable pace. Towards the end I was getting fed up because I couldn’t enjoy the run as I normally would and an hour of concentration on one thing is a long time. My breathing was no better or worse at mile 8 as at mile 5 and my muscles felt fine.

My hamstring has been tight since Saturday – I must continue to stretch it this week (I didn’t today during the day).
