5 miles slow

Goal:

  • 5 miles slow – approx 50 mins

Outcome:

  • 5.1 miles steady – 00:42:21 mins – 7.2 mph avg

This is last night’s run.

Decided to just whip round the five miles to get it out of the way. I had to slow it down after about 2 miles – I’m finding that I hit a mini-wall around 2 miles which when I’m over lets me push harder. Maybe I should be warming up more slowly so that I am past this barrier before pushing myself.

I was actively trying to lean slightly forward, but remain straight bodied during this run – and it felt very comfortable. I felt like I was pushing away when running instead of having a more up-and-down motion, which added to the extra speed a bit.

I’ve got another 5 miler on the schedule for today and will see how I get on with my new running position.
