
Bridge into Tyringham
I mixed up a litre of Lucozade Sport, made some peanut butter sandwiches and a 1/2 litre of water and packed a small rucksack. It’s actually a camel back copy, but I took out the bladder because I didn’t want to use it that way.
I ran with J for first 6 miles, from home, through Newport Pagnell town centre, then out towards Lathbury and Tyringham. Up a very long steep hill, which was surprisingly ok thanks to all my hill training and left Jen at the top of Little Linford Lane to run home. I carried on cutting across to the canal.
Before I reached the canal I took my first stop… sarnies out, I ate two of them and drank half of the sport drink. Popped on my MP3 player and headed off again out along the canal.
Ran out another 7 miles, through Wolverton, past Cosgrove and out near Castlethorpe, where I had my 2nd stop. Finishing food and sports drink.
Running back along the canal I was suddenly aware that I’d actually massively overshoot 20 mile if I took the same route back. I changed to run down the railway path, and hit 20 miles about 1 mile from home, where I stopped my watch and wanderred for a bit, swigging water. Jogged the last 3/4 of a mile home, very slowly!
