Hills

30 05 2007

Well we managed some hills tonight.

There is a hill quite close to where we live that is 200m long that we used. It’s not as steep as the hill at Willen Lake by the Pagoda, but its steep enough!

I drove round with Hugh in the car, and parked at the bottom of the hill where he sat playing on the DS. The road was closed at the bottom because of flooding, I was hoping that there wouldn’t be much traffic!

Anyway, we managed 12 repeats in 32 minutes, which was a total of 3.02 miles. Basically each repeat took about 53 seconds, but my last one I managed in 46 seconds!

Throughout, numerous cars tried to go through the flood, some appeared to make it, others tried and turned back. A few got right in the pigging way! In fact one man in his 4×4 gave me no room to run and I narrowly avoided his wing mirror. Considering he could have moved out into the road I thought this was very rude.

Anyway, it felt like a workout. I’m home showered and dinnered now!

8 mile jog

30 05 2007

Well I managed 8 miles last night :)

Jen and I drove to Willen Lake and ran two laps of the lake with Hugh on his bike.  Hugh did really well, managed to keep up and I think he enjoyed spending the time with us.  I had to push him up a couple of hills on the second lap, but he was great!

Two laps of the lake brought us up to 5 miles, so Jen took Hugh home in the car, whilst I ran back, bringing my run to 8 miles.

I was really tired at the end, having to really drive myself to finish.  Today I’ve really felt it in my legs and lower back today, it really shows how quickly I’ve lost fitness.

Anyway, tonight we are hill training…  Hugh will sit in the car with the DS or a book, where he can see us and we can see him.  We’re saving babysitting for when we may need it, also it shows Hugh what we do when we go out.
